Aos 11 anos, Dami\u00e3o Paridzan\u00e9 foi levado de sua casa em um avi\u00e3o da FAB, junto a toda sua fam\u00edlia e parentes.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Deportado da terra onde nasceu, Dami\u00e3o logo ficou sozinho, sem fam\u00edlia: seu pai e seu irm\u00e3o faleceram por causa de uma infe\u00e7\u00e3o de sarampo na remo\u00e7\u00e3o e a m\u00e3e dele foi levada para outra comunidade.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Em 2012 por\u00e9m, ap\u00f3s muitos anos de lutas, Dami\u00e3o, j\u00e1 com 60 anos, conseguiu pisar novamente seu ch\u00e3o e levar o seu povo com ele.<\/p>\n

Em 1966, avi\u00f5es da For\u00e7a A\u00e9rea Brasileira deportaram os 264 ind\u00edgenas<\/strong> Xavante que moravam na Terra Ind\u00edgena Mar\u00e3iwats\u00e9d\u00e9<\/a>: em seu territ\u00f3rio ancestral estava sendo instalada a maior fazenda da Am\u00e9rica Latina.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Levados a mais de 400Km de sua casa natal, os ind\u00edgenas foram recepcionados por uma epidemia de sarampo que matou mais de 100 pessoas<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

A luta dos Xavante para retornar ao seu territo\u0301rio continuou ao longo de de\u0301cadas at\u00e9 que em 2012, ap\u00f3s mais de 50 anos enfrentando os interesses de pol\u00edticos e empres\u00e1rios<\/strong>, conseguiram recuperar as suas terras ancestrais.<\/p>\n

Escreve Ant\u00f4nio Canuto<\/a> em seu recente livro que \u00abh\u00e1 pouco mais de 20 anos, quando come\u00e7ou a circular a not\u00edcia de que os Xavante voltariam \u00e0 sua terra, na fazenda Sui\u00e1-Miss\u00fa, muitos da regi\u00e3o torciam o nariz e afirmavam que isso era conversa fiada, que nunca viram Xavante por a\u00ed.\u00bb<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

A realidade, por\u00e9m, \u00e9 que h\u00e1 registros dos Xavante no Araguaia desde a d\u00e9cada de 1950<\/strong>, quando se produzeram diversos contatos entre eles e os retirantes n\u00e3o-\u00edndios que, aos poucos, iam chegando na regi\u00e3o.<\/p>\n

De fato, a regi\u00e3o do Araguaia come\u00e7ou a ser ocupada pelos n\u00e3o-\u00edndios no inicio do s\u00e9culo XX, em uma migra\u00e7\u00e3o espont\u00e2nea de fam\u00edlias que vinham do nordeste do Brasil \u00e0 procura de um peda\u00e7o de terra para viver.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Fruto desse movimento, nasceu o povoado de S\u00e3o F\u00e9lix do Araguaia<\/a> -e muitos outros \u00e0 beira do Rio. De l\u00e1, algumas fam\u00edlias partiram \u00abpara o \u201csert\u00e3o\u201d, ou seja, para o interior do territ\u00f3rio at\u00e9 ent\u00e3o ocupado apenas pelos Xavante\u00bb, explica Marcos Ramires.<\/a><\/p>\n<\/p>\n

No entanto, antes de 1960, os encontros com os Xavante aconteceram de forma pontual<\/strong>, na imensid\u00e3o da mata que ocupava a regi\u00e3o, e h\u00e1 relatos tanto de encontros pac\u00edficos quanto violentos. <\/p>\n

A Lei 4.216 de 1963<\/a>, que extendia \u00e0 Amaz\u00f4nia os beneficios fiscais previstos para o Nordeste,\u00a0 inaugurou uma agressiva pol\u00edtica de incentivos<\/strong> fiscais \u00e0s empresas que fossem se instalar na Amaz\u00f4nia<\/strong>. A ideia era clara:\u00a0\u00abDentro de um discurso nacionalista, os militares pregam a unifica\u00e7\u00e3o do pa\u00eds. Al\u00e9m disso, era preciso proteger a floresta contra a \u201cinternacionaliza\u00e7\u00e3o\u201d. Em 1966, o presidente Castelo Branco fala em \u201cIntegrar para n\u00e3o Entregar\u201d\u00bb, explica a BBC.<\/a><\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Em alguns casos, esses beneficios permitiam que o governo militar assumisse at\u00e9 100% da totalidade dos projetos propostos, atra\u00edndo dessa forma a instala\u00e7\u00e3o de grandes fazendas.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

No Araguaia, destacaram-se a Codeara<\/a> -protagonista de conflitos violentos ao norde da regi\u00e3o, com 600.000 ha., e a Sui\u00e1-Miss\u00fa, que chegaria a ter 1,5 milh\u00f5es de hectares.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Paralelamente, muitos grupos industriais e financeiros, nacionais e estrangeiros, \u00abpassaram a abrir fazendas<\/strong> no nordeste do Mato Grosso, norte de Goi\u00e1s e sul do Par\u00e1: Anderson Clayton, Goodyear, Nestl\u00e9, Mitsubishi, Liquifarm, Bordon, Swift Armour, Camargo Correa, Bradesco, Mappin, Eletrobr\u00e1s, etc. Al\u00e9m de grandes fazendeiros tradicionais do sul que juntaram seu esp\u00edrito empresarial aos cofres do Estado.\u00bb, explicavam\u00a0Fernando Henrique Cardoso e Geraldo M\u00fcller<\/a>, em 2008.<\/p>\n

No contexto dessa pol\u00edtica de ocupa\u00e7\u00e3o da Amaz\u00f4nia, o empres\u00e1rio paulistano\u00a0Ariosto da Riva<\/a>\u00a0comprou do Estado do Mato Grosso a \u00e1rea onde moravam os Xavante. Mais tarde, se associou \u00e0 fam\u00edlia Ometto e instalaram na regi\u00e3o a Agropecu\u00e1ria Sui\u00e1-Missu.<\/a><\/p>\n<\/p>\n

A fazenda foi criada em pleno territ\u00f3rio de Mar\u00e3iwats\u00e9d\u00e9<\/strong> e contou, para sua \u201cabertura\u201d com o uso da m\u00e3o-de-obra dos ind\u00edgenas. O empreendimento tinha inicialmente mais de 800.000 hectares e foi considerado por alguns o maior latif\u00fandio da Am\u00e9rica Latina<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Mas, como explicam\u00a0Armando Wilson Tafner Junior<\/a> e F\u00e1bio Carlos da Silva<\/a>,\u00a0\u00abconforme o rebanho ia aumentando, crescia a necessidade de formac\u0327a\u0303o de novos pastos o que levou ao aumento da a\u0301rea desmatada e eclosa\u0303o de conflitos<\/strong>. Ariosto da Riva, que se associou inicialmente aos Ometto, logo desistiu da sociedade e vendeu sua parte nas terras para o Grupo Ometto devido a conflitos com posseiros e i\u0301ndios.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Esses conflitos passaram a incomodar o Grupo Ometto. Ariosto procurou novas terras desocupadas, mais ao Norte do Mato Grosso, onde hoje esta\u0301 localizado o munici\u0301pio de Alta Floresta<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

O Grupo Ometto fez o mesmo, vendeu suas terras a empresa Liquifarm Brasil S\/A, depois de entrar em liti\u0301gio com os i\u0301ndios Xavantes quando foram iniciar as obras para estabelecer o nu\u0301cleo que levava o nome da tribo\u00bb.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Segundo explica Pedro Casald\u00e1liga em sua Carta Pastoral de 1971<\/a>, a Fazenda Sui\u00e1-Missu possu\u00eda cerca de 695 mil hectares na d\u00e9cada de 70, \u00abextens\u00e3o que superava a do pr\u00f3prio Distrito Federal. Tal acontecimento demonstra a capacidade econ\u00f4mica do grupo que controlava o empreendimento\u00bb, explica o Minist\u00e9rio P\u00fablico Federal.<\/a><\/p>\n

Durante a Confer\u00eancia das Na\u00e7\u00f5es Unidas sobre o Meio Ambiente de 1992, celebrada no Rio de Janeiro, os Xavante pressionaram as autoridades nacionais e internacionais e o presidente da Agip, Gabriele Cagliari<\/a>, -que cometeria suicido pouco depois em uma pris\u00e3o da It\u00e1lia, acusado de corrup\u00e7\u00e3o, se comprometeu publicamente a devolver a \u00e1rea dos Xavante<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Por\u00e9m, como relatava o jornal italiano La Repubblica em 1993<\/a>: \u00abo sonho dos xavante, expulsos de suas terras em 1966, permaneceu um sonho<\/strong>. Os 168 mil hectares da fazenda Suia Missu, no Mato Grosso, um ano depois, ainda s\u00e3o de propriedade da Agip Petroli\u00bb.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

O litigio com os Xavante ainda permaneceu sob a ina\u00e7\u00e3o do governo brasileiro por mais de 5 anos<\/strong>, at\u00e9 que a Terra Ind\u00edgena Mar\u00e3iwats\u00e9d\u00e9 foi homologada<\/a> pelo presidente da Rep\u00fablica, Fernando Henrique Cardoso, em 1998.<\/p>\n

A demora do Governo Brasileiro<\/strong> para homologar a \u00e1rea e os interesses de fazendeiros e pol\u00edticos da regi\u00e3o provocou a invas\u00e3o massiva<\/strong> da terra dos Xavante<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

A luta dos ind\u00edgenas era bem conhecida na regi\u00e3o, mas os 6 anos que se passaram desde a promessa de devolu\u00e7\u00e3o da \u00e1rea ind\u00edgena (na ECO-92) at\u00e9 o reconhecimento oficial da mesma em 1998, possibilitou a invas\u00e3o da \u00e1rea por n\u00e3o-\u00edndios.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Nesse impasse, pol\u00edticos e empres\u00e1rios, com a cumplicidade de advogados e at\u00e9 de registradores promoveram uma fraudulenta \u201creforma agr\u00e1ria particular\u201d<\/strong> com a inten\u00e7\u00e3o de ocupar a \u00e1rea e dificultar a volta dos Xavante.<\/p>\n

De fato, j\u00e1 em 1992, ap\u00f3s a empresa italiana anunciar que iria devolver a \u00e1rea aos Xavante, pol\u00edticos locais, empres\u00e1rios e advogados incentivaram a popula\u00e7\u00e3o a invadir o territ\u00f3rio Xavante<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Bom exemplo disso s\u00e3o as consignas ouvidas em uma reuni\u00e3o na \u00e1rea em disputa, transmitida ao vivo pela R\u00e1dio Mundial FM no dia 20 de junho e cujo \u00e1udio completo disponibilizamos a seguir:<\/p>\n

Essa tentativa de dividir uma \u00e1rea que era dos Xavante, por\u00e9m, se deu na l\u00f3gica dos incentivadores: \u00abA divis\u00e3o da \u00e1rea, n\u00e3o se deu de forma equitativa. Enquanto grandes latif\u00fandios eram formados nas terras tidas como de \u201cboa qualidade\u201d, por figuras \u201cimportantes\u201d<\/a> da regi\u00e3o, as matas e o Cerrado, localizados em regi\u00f5es cuja terra era considerada ruim, foram loteadas e entregues aos pequenos posseiros que ainda teriam que derrubar a vegeta\u00e7\u00e3o para poder plantar e criar seus animais\u00bb, explica Marcos Ramires.<\/p>\n

Para completar, ap\u00f3s tantos anos de invas\u00e3o e de implanta\u00e7\u00e3o de fazendas -grandes, m\u00e9dias e pequenas, dedicadas sobretudo \u00e0 cria\u00e7\u00e3o de gado, Mar\u00e3iwats\u00e9d\u00e9 -que significa \u201cmata alta\u201d na lingua Xavante, tinha perdido 80% de sua vegeta\u00e7\u00e3o original<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

De fato, essa tend\u00eancia tem continuado at\u00e9 os dias de hoje, pois as invas\u00f5es tem continuado. Resultado disso, at\u00e9 2017, tinham sido desmatados\u00a0105.062 hectares da Terra Ind\u00edgena.<\/p>\n

Em 2003, os anci\u00e3os de Mar\u00e3iwats\u00e9d\u00e9 expressaram o desejo de voltar \u00e0 terra<\/strong> de seus ancestrais antes de morrerem.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Os jovens guerreiros sentiram-se na obriga\u00e7\u00e3o de propiciar-lhes esse retorno. Por isso, nesse mesmo ano, 280 pessoas se deslocaram at\u00e9 as portas da sua terra<\/strong>, crian\u00e7as, jovens, adultos e velhos Xavante queriam voltar a viver em casa.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Por\u00e9m, ao tentarem entrar na \u00e1rea -que tinha sido reconhecida legalmente fazia 5 anos, os Xavante foram impedidos pelos invasores<\/strong>, que bloquearam a BR-158 com a ajuda dos pol\u00edticos e fazendeiros da regi\u00e3o.<\/p>\n

Sem poder entrar em sua pr\u00f3pria terra, foram for\u00e7ados a ficar acampados<\/strong> embaixo de lonas pretas, \u00e0s portas de sua casa ancestral por mais de 8 meses.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Ao longo desse tempo, sem assist\u00eancia e sem recursos, faleceram 3 crian\u00e7as<\/a> e outras 14 tiveram que ser internadas.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Nessa situa\u00e7\u00e3o, o TRF1<\/a> autorizou finalmente a volta dos Xavante e julgou por unanimidade que os ocupantes n\u00e3o ind\u00edgenas agiram de m\u00e1-f\u00e9 e n\u00e3o t\u00eam direito \u00e0 indeniza\u00e7\u00e3o.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

No entanto, \u00aba decis\u00e3o teve recurso e em setembro, o vice-presidente do TRF1, Daniel Dias, voltou a suspender o processo por for\u00e7a de recursos interpostos pelos fazendeiros, representados pelo advogado Luiz Alfredo Feresin de Abreu, irm\u00e3o da senadora K\u00e1tia Abreu, presidente da Confedera\u00e7\u00e3o da Agricultura e Pecu\u00e1ria do Brasil (CNA)\u00bb, explica a ag\u00eancia Rep\u00f3rter Brasil.<\/a><\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Na regi\u00e3o, todos n\u00f3s sab\u00edamos que o conflito poderia ser iminente<\/strong> e que a situa\u00e7\u00e3o criada entre uns e outros dificilmente poderia acabar bem.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Mas, finalmente, nos \u00faltimos meses de 2012, o Supremo Tribunal Federal (STF) ordenou a remo\u00e7\u00e3o dos invasores e a entrada efetiva do Povo Xavante <\/strong>na Terra Ind\u00edgena Mar\u00e3iwats\u00e9d\u00e9.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

No dia 7 de novembro de 2012 come\u00e7aram a entregar no local as notifica\u00e7\u00f5es que pedian a sa\u00edda dos invasores.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Finalmente, ap\u00f3s quarenta e seis anos de exilio, os Xavante tiveram definitivamente reconhecido o direito ao usufruto de seu territ\u00f3rio<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

A sa\u00edda dos invasores, por\u00e9m, n\u00e3o seu de forma pac\u00edfica e foi necess\u00e1ria a interven\u00e7\u00e3o da For\u00e7a Nacional<\/strong> para poder retirar as pessoas que permaneciam na \u00e1rea. Houve enfrentamentos organizados<\/a> com a policia e atos vand\u00e1licos para destruir (ainda mais) a terra dos ind\u00edgenas.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Fruto desses meses de tens\u00e3o que vivemos no Araguaia, o Bispo Pedro Casald\u00e1liga<\/a> teve que abandonar a sua casa<\/strong>, aos 84 anos, pelas amea\u00e7as de morte recebidas e com o objetivo de facilitar, na medida do poss\u00edvel, a devolu\u00e7\u00e3o da terra aos Xavante.<\/p>\n

Mar\u00e3iwats\u00e9d\u00e9, que foi o lar farto dos Xavante por s\u00e9culos, enfrenta hoje o desafio vital da escasez de alimentos, da falta de \u00e1gua, dos solos degradados por causa do desmatamento e, ainda, as invas\u00f5es pontuais<\/a> e os inc\u00eandios criminosos<\/a> que, ainda hoje, se registram na \u00e1rea.<\/p>\n

Apesar dessas dificuldades, os Xavante est\u00e3o conseguindo se apropriar de seu territ\u00f3rio ancestral<\/strong> e construir novas aldeias, como \u00e9 seu costume.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Aos poucos, entre todos\/as, estamos ajudando a recuperar ambientalmente a sua terra (mas sabemos que \u00e9 um processo de d\u00e9cadas) e, com ela, recuperando os rituais Xavante e re-constru\u00edndo seu modo de viver e ser.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

O caminho \u00e9 longo e vai ser muito dif\u00edcil. As amea\u00e7as n\u00e3o faltam.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Mas, o Povo Xavante de Mar\u00e3iwats\u00e9d\u00e9 n\u00e3o tem medo<\/strong>. Para eles, a esperan\u00e7a sempre vence!<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
