Fotografias chocantes das queimadas que atingiram matas e florestas apareceram nos notici\u00e1rios de televis\u00e3o, nos jornais e sites na Internet.<\/p>\n

Muitas ONGs, movimentos e at\u00e9 atores internacionais publicaram documentos exigindo solu\u00e7\u00f5es diante desse crime ambiental contra a humanidade.<\/p>\n

A realidade, por\u00e9m, \u00e9 que a Amaz\u00f4nia vem sendo queimada h\u00e1 muitos anos. <\/strong><\/p>\n

H\u00e1 d\u00e9cadas que as fam\u00edlias que moram aqui denunciam e reclamam que a destrui\u00e7\u00e3o da floresta prejudica seus plantios, sua sa\u00fade e limita a sua capacidade de obter alimentos e at\u00e9 de dispor de \u00e1gua!<\/p>\n

No entanto, 2019 e 2020 ser\u00e3o lembrados como anos em que a Amaz\u00f4nia queimou como fazia d\u00e9cadas n\u00e3o o fazia.<\/strong> A destrui\u00e7\u00e3o deste bioma fundamental atingiu limites insuspeitados.<\/p>\n

1. O cen\u00e1rio perfeito <\/strong><\/h2>\n

A regi\u00e3o da Prelazia de S\u00e3o F\u00e9lix do Araguaia abrange uma \u00e1rea de aproximadamente 150.000 km2 dentro da Amaz\u00f4nia Legal <\/a>. Est\u00e1 situada ao nordeste do estado de Mato Grosso, na divisa com o Tocantins e o Par\u00e1, a cerca de 1.200 km ao norte da capital brasileira, Bras\u00edlia.<\/p>\n

O primeiro elemento que precisamos considerar para entender os inc\u00eandios \u00e9, portanto, \u201cas dist\u00e2ncias\u201d<\/strong>: o espa\u00e7o ocupado pela Prelazia de S\u00e3o F\u00e9lix do Araguaia \u00e9 maior que toda a Gr\u00e9cia ou toda a Nicar\u00e1gua…e equivalente a todo o Cear\u00e1! .<\/p>\n

A regi\u00e3o do Araguaia se encontra na Amaz\u00f4nia Legal, a 1.200 ao norte de Bras\u00edlia, entre os biomas Cerrado e Amaz\u00f3nico.<\/p>\n

Nesta extensa regi\u00e3o temos o privil\u00e9gio de testemunhar uma rica transi\u00e7\u00e3o de biomas: do Cerrado<\/a>, o bioma mais biodiverso do mundo, at\u00e9 a Amaz\u00f4nia. Esse fato confere uma riqueza \u00fanica de formas de vida vegetal e animal<\/strong>, que se estende desde as savanas do Cerrado at\u00e9 a densa floresta amaz\u00f4nica.<\/p>\n

A caracter\u00edstica geogr\u00e1fica mais marcante, no entanto, \u00e9 que esta regi\u00e3o est\u00e1 localizada entre dois dos grandes rios da Am\u00e9rica Latina: o Rio Araguaia<\/a> e o Rio Xingu<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Tamb\u00e9m tem dentro de seus limites duas grandes e lend\u00e1rias terras ind\u00edgenas de prote\u00e7\u00e3o ambiental: o Parque Ind\u00edgena do Xingu<\/a>, a oeste e a Illa del Bananal<\/a>, ao leste.<\/p>\n

Esta configura\u00e7\u00e3o implica tamb\u00e9m que a regi\u00e3o possui poucas estradas de acesso, muitas das quais em condi\u00e7\u00f5es prec\u00e1rias.<\/p>\n

A rodovia principal \u00e9 a BR-158, que corta a regi\u00e3o de norte a sul e ainda tem mais de 200 km sem asfalto. Isso significa que neste Araguaia viajar para qualquer cidade de mais de 50.000 habitantes significa fazer entre 15 e 24 horas de \u00f4nibus. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Trata-se de uma regi\u00e3o pouco povoada, pois em 2010 (\u00faltimo censo oficial) moravam aqui 125.271 pessoas. Nenhum dos 15 munic\u00edpios que formam a \u00e1rea da Prelazia de S\u00e3o F\u00e9lix do Araguaia supera os 35 mil habitantes<\/strong>. Neles, 43% da popula\u00e7\u00e3o vive na \u00e1rea rural.<\/p>\n

Confresa<\/a>, atualmente com 30.000 habitantes (estimativa), e Serra Nova Dourada<\/a>, onde moram 1.365 pessoas, s\u00e3o os munic\u00edpios mais grande e mais pequeno respectivamente.<\/p>\n

Nesse sentido, \u00e9 preciso entender a Amaz\u00f4nia e, concretamente esta regi\u00e3o do Araguaia como uma enorme extens\u00e3o, do tamanho de alguns pa\u00edses<\/strong>, relativamente pouco habitada, onde as cidades est\u00e3o separadas por grandes dist\u00e2ncias e as vias de acesso s\u00e3o muito prec\u00e1rias.<\/p>\n

2. O material inflam\u00e1vel<\/strong><\/h2>\n

No Araguaia, o principal sector econ\u00f3mico s\u00e3o os servi\u00e7os, que representam a metade da economia regional. A outra economia \u00e9 a produ\u00e7\u00e3o agr\u00edcola.<\/p>\n

Os servi\u00e7os incluem actividades como o com\u00e9rcio, a constru\u00e7\u00e3o e as relacionadas com a administra\u00e7\u00e3o p\u00fablica.<\/p>\n

Ja a produ\u00e7\u00e3o no campo se concentra na cria extensiva de gado e na produ\u00e7\u00e3o de soja e outros gr\u00e3os em grande escada<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

De fato, uma das particularidades da ocupa\u00e7\u00e3o do territ\u00f3rio no Araguaia \u00e9 a rela\u00e7\u00e3o entre a popula\u00e7\u00e3o humana e o rebanho bovino: Aqui temos 22 cabe\u00e7as de gado por cada habitante.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Este modelo econ\u00f3mico foi construido sobre a base de uma forte pol\u00edtica de incentivos fiscais<\/strong> que pretendia a instala\u00e7\u00e3o de grandes projetos agr\u00edcolas na Amaz\u00f4nia e que come\u00e7ou a ser incentivada sistematicamente na d\u00e9cada de 1960…e que se tem fortalecido nas \u00faltimas d\u00e9cadas e adotado como pol\u00edtica federal desde a chegada de Bolsonaro.<\/p>\n

Ao mesmo tempo, as pol\u00edticas p\u00fablicas para os agricultores familiares tem priorizado o mesmo modelo produtivo<\/strong> das grandes : nesta regi\u00e3o tem animado e incentivado financeiramente o desmatamento e a monocultura.<\/p>\n

O modelo econ\u00f3mico que os poderos escolheram para a regi\u00e3o vem sendo implementado h\u00e1 60 anos: primeiro, apoiado e financiado pela ditadura militar e executado pelo latifundio<\/strong>; e, nas \u00faltimas d\u00e9cadas, pelo financiamento p\u00fablico (de novo), veiculado pelas grandes coorpora\u00e7\u00f5es sobre a base das escassas e mal executadas pol\u00edticas realistas para a vida das fam\u00edlias no campo.<\/p>\n

3. O combust\u00edvel mais eficaz<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Ao mesmo tempo em que a pecu\u00e1ria aumentou exponencialmente durante os \u00faltimos 15 anos (concretamente em 15 milh\u00f5es de cabe\u00e7as de gado), tem havido uma presen\u00e7a crescente da agricultura industrial em grande escada<\/strong>. A soja \u00e9 o principal cultivo e ocupa quase 80% do total das \u00e1reas agr\u00edcolas da regi\u00e3o.<\/p>\n

Para a safra (colheita) de 2020 calcula-se que ser\u00e3o recolhidas 34 milh\u00f5es de toneladas de soja, plantadas em 9,82 milh\u00f5es de hect\u00e1res, s\u00f3 no Estado do Mato Grosso: uma superficie equivalente ao Pernambuco ou a Santa Catarina inteiros….sem uma \u00e1rvore, sem um animal…apenas com soja para exportar \u00e0 China e \u00e0 Europa.<\/p>\n

4. O Incendi\u00e1rio<\/strong><\/h2>\n

No marco desta situa\u00e7\u00e3o e desta hist\u00f3ria, temos de acrescentar ainda as declara\u00e7\u00f5es, o clima criado e as pol\u00edticas implementadas pelo governo Bolsonaro na Amaz\u00f4nia<\/a>: as a\u00e7\u00f5es intencionalmente orientadas a promover e apoiar o modelo agroindustrial e a elimininar, portanto, as formas de vida alternativas, respeituosas com as pessoas e o meio ambiente, vem sendo impostas desde 2019 e deixando um rastro de destrui\u00e7\u00e3o, discrimina\u00e7\u00e3o, racismo e concentra\u00e7\u00e3o de renda em toda a regi\u00e3o.<\/p>\n

O trabalho que se tinha conseguido fazer nos \u00faltimos 40 anos, de conscientiza\u00e7\u00e3o, de olhar a diversifica\u00e7\u00e3o da produ\u00e7\u00e3o como uma riqueza para a Humanidade, de re-plantar zonas que tinham sido desmatadas, etc, est\u00e1 seriamente amea\u00e7ado.<\/p>\n

Bolsonaro tem eliminando os mecanismos financeiros que ajudavam \u00e0 preserva\u00e7\u00e3o da Amaz\u00f4nia<\/a> e esvaziado os \u00f3rg\u00e3os p\u00fablicos <\/a> que se dedicam \u00e0 vigil\u00e2ncia ambiental, animando o desmatamento e a grilhagem de terras.<\/p>\n

Assim, sobre a base de uma hist\u00f3ria caracterizada pela distribui\u00e7\u00e3o desigual de terras, pela desigualdade e a pobreza, pela escassa presen\u00e7a do estado e pela implementa\u00e7\u00e3o de um modelo produtivo baseado na monocultura da soja e da pecu\u00e1ria extensiva, temos que acrescentar agora as pol\u00edticas p\u00fablicas que encorajam os latifundi\u00e1rios, negam a destrui\u00e7\u00e3o da natureza e criminalizam os Povos Ind\u00edgenas e a Sociedade Civil organizada. \u00c9 f\u00e1cil entender, ent\u00e3o, que temos a conjuntura perfeita que explica porque a Amaz\u00f4nia, o Pantanal ou Cerrado est\u00e3o sendo destru\u00eddos como nunca.<\/strong><\/p>\n
